Itinerary

The day before
The riders arrive at Heraklion Airport (HER) and are transferred to the stable with mini bus! This is about 30 minutes drive and you may arrive at any time. There is no riding on the first day. The welcome dinner is served for all riders.

10.00 riding lessons or trek to the mountains depending on the rider’s preferences and abilities
14.00 lunch at the restaurant at the stable or picnic during the trek
15.00 riding lessons or trek to the beach or you are free to do what you want in the afternoon, relax in the sun or your host would be happy to take you to the beach or nearest town or village for no extra charge
19.00 dinner at the restaurant and riders’ integration

10.00 course work with Monty Roberts’ techniques (riding without the saddle, basis of the natural horsemanship, join-up with a horse, introduction to working with the double lunge)

15.00 riders’ free time or carriage driving lessons for interested
19.00 dinner at the restaurant
DAY 6
9.00 breakfast at the restaurant at the stable
10.00 long ride to the beach
Beginners will ride only in the morning and will have the afternoon free to relax at the stable if they wish.
14.00 lunch or barbecue
15.00 riders’ free time or carriage driving lessons for interested
19.00 dinner at the restaurant
DAY 7
9.00 breakfast at the restaurant at the stable
10.00 farewell and transfer to the Heraklion airport. Your departure flight may be at any time.

Important information

THE PRICE INCLUDES:

  • Travel insurance including horse riding during whole trip
  • All the accommodation
  • Full board (drinks are excluded)
  • Pick up and drop off at Heraklion Airport (HER)
  • Transport around the stable to the beach, shops or any touristic sights

DATES :

The provided dates are out of season due to high temperatures during summer time in Crete. However if you would like to spend summer holidays in Greece and have some riding lessons or treks in the early morning or evening, Gallop Travel can organize such holidays then as well.

The provided dates of the horse expeditions can be changed due to unfavourable weather conditions or any circumstances occurred regardless of Gallop Travel. The alternative dates will be then scheduled or money refund will be guaranteed.

If you cannot adjust your time timetable to our dates but you have few friends who ride with you, we can organize tailor-made trail for your team. Please contact us.

Required equipment

Rider’s Equipment

  •      breeches (at least 2 pairs) or jodhpurs

  •      chaps, gloves, optionally equestrian vest
  •      light or dry-fit T-shirt (easy to be washed)
  •      water and windproof jacket with a hood (i.e. softshell)
  •      helmet or other head cover (hat or headscarf) (you can also borrow helmet from the stable)
  •      pocket flask
  •      mobile phone (if necessary)

  •      sunscreen cream (min. SPF 30), lip balm

Horses Horses

The Haflinger horse also known as the Avelignese, is a breed of horse developed in Austria and northern Italy (namely Hafling in South Tyrol region) during the late 19th century. Haflinger horses are relatively small, are always chestnut with flaxen mane and tail, have distinctive gaits described as energetic but smooth, and are well-muscled yet elegant.

Horses Equestrian skills

Riders who book the trip must be confident in walk, trot, and canter, but the similar program is also for beginners or children. They should get used to riding in the countryside and must be fit enough to ride between one and three hours a day.

Horses English speaking guide

The stable owners are multilingual so you can either communicate in English, German, French or Greek.

Horses Accomodation

The stable offers two holiday apartments, 60 square meters each, 2 bedrooms with big living room able to accommodate 5 people each apartment.

Horses Local cuisine

The stable and restaurant owner provides you with an excellent variety of local food including different types of meat, sea food, salads and Greek specialities. Vegetarian meals are also possible. You won’t loose weight 🙂

During the entire horseback tour you will be exposed to local customs, music, rituals and even different eating manners. Travel broadens the mind.

There are lots of hills and rough terrain in Crete, but also beautiful sunny landscape of the beach through the olive trees.
